im trying to write this sci-fi thing and ive had a break through! Its not a sci-fi movie but a war movie set in space! aha! Now all i need is a script...

anyways...

Regarding war movies I think I would say Saving Private Ryan... just resaw Platoon which dissapointed me. I remeber it being much better

ok starship troopers didnt **** ... but it wasnt as good as mine will be muhahaha

one thing that always impressed me about the film though was the special effects, years later i think its still on par with new stuff. In fact its one of the few movies that has loooooads of computer stuff that doesnt look completely fake all the time.

*sighs* bring back animatronics (sp?)and people in costumes!! Perfect example... old yoda might not of been able to do flips and stuff, but he had a lot more character and was loads cuter as a puppet!!

No Starship Troopers the movie stank on ice.

It stank on ICE
It stank on Pot
It stank on LSD

The shower was ok.

Special effects should be used to enhance the film.
A space ship exploding etc.
Pearl Harbour however uses effects that most of us can recreate to enhance the emotion of the movie things that you wouldn't notive unless you knew what you are looking for.

For example when the nurse is reaching for the morphine or something.

It is repulsive on such a subtle psychological level that I wouldn't use a like effect that I had come up with because it disturbed me.

Then there's the guns
The one guy's eyes
The inital explosion
on and on...

Most movie FX last about 2 to 5 seconds.
A space craft zipping past.

But now people like us can create really disturbing effects that can be used to change the mood of the film and the audience will never even know it they will just begin to feel uneasy or happy.

Is this great or what.
